Certificate for Documentary Credit Specialists (CDCS) is a trade certificate professional programme created by the London Institute of Banking and Finance (LIBF) in partnership with the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC) for bankers and trade finance professionals. As a trade finance professional, you understand the importance of documentary credits and the need to ensure that all parties adhere to the international guidelines. This certification programme therefore equip bankers and international trade practitioners with skills needed to reduce discrepancies and delays in their documentary credit transactions.

What CDCS & CSDG Tutorial Covers

CDCS study will cover:

  • The types, characteristics and uses of documentary credits and standby letters of credit
  • Rules and trade terms, including UCP 600, ISP98, ISBP 745, Incoterms® 2020 and URR 725
  • Parties to documentary credit transactions and their roles and obligations
  • Types and methods of payment and credit used in documentary credit transactions, including the concept of autonomy
  • Types of transport, commercial and financial documents used in documentary credit transactions
  • Related products including letters of indemnity, air way releases and steamship guarantees
  • The implications of breaching rules including money laundering and terrorist financing

In addition:

  • The facilitator meets with the student every month to review their study progress and answer their questions.
  • Mock examination is made available to the learners from the pool of past questions provided by the London Institute of Banking and Finance, and answers are reviewed by the facilitator.
